COOL
IS A SPECTRUM
AJ and the Cool Kids supports families and celebrates the unique strengths of children on the autism spectrum. We’re building a community of acceptance and opportunity that empowers every child to thrive.
Join us in making a difference, one family at a time.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects millions of families nationwide, presenting complex challenges that require early, intensive intervention and ongoing support. The financial and emotional toll can be overwhelming. Families often face therapy costs averaging $60,000 per year, totaling nearly $240,000 before their child even starts school. Beyond therapy, children with autism typically require significantly more medical care, including frequent pediatric and psychiatric visits, inpatient stays, and higher medication expenses. These demands often force parents to reduce work hours or leave jobs entirely, while emotional stress and the challenge of balancing caregiving with daily life weigh heavily on families.
At AJ and the Cool Kids, we understand these challenges firsthand. Founded by Tonya and Antonio Tolson after their son AJ’s early autism diagnosis, our nonprofit is dedicated to building a supportive, caring community for families impacted by autism. Through education, awareness, and financial assistance, even in small but meaningful ways. We strive to lighten the load for families navigating this journey. Because sometimes, a little support can make all the difference.
No family should have to face autism alone. AJ and the Cool Kids exists to bring hope, connection, and help. So families can focus on what matters most: their children’s growth, happiness, and future.

“AJ and the Cool Kids has done wonders for the autism community. I finally felt seen as a parent and caregiver of a child with autism. I was honored to be her first family to be honored at their annual gala.”
